I was asked this question yesterday…
"What does ‘The Pull’ feel like?”

The Pull is the first part of the Holy Work path. It is where you start to recognize there is something God wants to make with you.

So, what does it feel like?

It feels like restlessness.
It feels like a stirring.
It feels like you’re stuck.
It feels like longing.

I agree, none of those feelings are pleasant.

But if it were pleasant, we would never move out of it.

In order to follow, you must move.

This restlessness, this stirring, the longing, this feeling of being stuck is from God.
He is stirring you to move, He is stirring you to listen and follow.

Let go and let Him pull you.

What happens when we don’t let go?

Well, as Henry Thoreau describes it, some people end up living “lives of quiet desperation.”

Or as Dostoyevsky wrote in The Brothers Karamazov, “For the secret of man’s being is not only to live…but to live for something definite. Without a firm notion of what he is living for, man will not accept life and will rather destroy himself than remain on earth.”

Following Gods pull leads to your purpose.
It leads to why He created you and what He wants to create with you, in you, and through you.

Where do you feel restless today?
Where do you feel stirred?
This is the direction you must go.
